On a hot summer day, Aqua Mijas, the Mijas Costa water park, is a guaranteed hit with children. Slides, pools and green lawns make it a perfect family outing right by the coast. We share what to expect and how to do it smartly.

Aqua Mijas, also known as Parque Acuático Mijas, is the Costa del Sol water park in Mijas, close to Fuengirola. It has slides for all ages, from fast speed slides to gentle children's pools, plus large swimming pools and lawns for picnicking and sunbathing. It is compact and family-friendly.
For more family fun nearby, see our guide La Cala de Mijas with kids.
A water park is a summer destination: Aqua Mijas is usually open from late spring to early September, with the longest hours in July and August. Outside that season it is closed. Always check the current opening dates and prices on the official channels in advance, as they change each year.
Our tip: go on a weekday and arrive at opening to beat the crowds and the queues at the most popular slides.
Bring sun cream, towels, water shoes and plenty of water; the sun is strong and you walk a lot barefoot. There are usually food outlets and picnic areas, but bringing your own food can be handy with a family. Keep an eye on small children at the slides and note the height requirements per attraction.
Allow half a day to a full day. Combine it with a quiet beach morning in La Cala de Mijas if you like.
Aqua Mijas is centrally located in Mijas Costa, a few minutes' drive from Riviera del Sol, La Cala and Fuengirola, right by the motorway. By car you are there in no time; there is parking at the park.
If you want more water fun or zoos, the Bioparc and Selwo Marina nearby are also highlights; see our guide to Benalmádena and the day trips from Mijas Costa.
