Shopping in La Cala de Mijas

In the centre of La Cala, around Calle Torremolinos and Calle Butiplaya, you find a mix of Spanish boutiques, fashion, souvenir shops and specialty stores. It is compact and walkable, perfect for a relaxed shopping stroll between the beach and a terrace.

The weekly highlight is the market on Wednesday morning, with more than a hundred stalls full of clothing, leather goods, ceramics, fresh produce and bargains. It is as much an outing as a shopping moment, and the most sociable way to stock up locally.

For daily groceries there are several supermarkets in and around the village, including a Mercadona on the edge and smaller shops in the centre. Thanks to the international community you also find British and Scandinavian products, handy if you miss something from home.

If you want serious shopping or to browse brands, there are two large shopping centres close by: Miramar in Fuengirola (about ten minutes) with shops, a cinema and dining, and La Cañada near Marbella (a quarter of an hour) with international brands. Both are covered, ideal on a hot or rainy day.
