Cala Mijas Festival brought big international names to the beach at La Cala de Mijas in 2022 and 2023. The 2024 edition was cancelled at short notice, and the festival did not return: the promoter moved it to Madrid. Planning a Costa del Sol summer and wondering whether the festival still exists? Below is the current status, and more importantly, what is actually on in La Cala this summer.

Short answer: no. There is no Cala Mijas Festival in 2026, and there has been no edition since the 2024 cancellation. The festival ran for just two editions, in 2022 and 2023. If you are looking for 2026 tickets, there are none, because the event no longer exists.
In fact, the promoter (Last Tour) moved the event to Madrid, where it has continued since 2024 under the name Kalorama. A return to the beach at La Cala has not been announced, and the official festival website still shows only the cancellation notice. So do not plan around the festival, but around the village's regular summer celebrations, listed below.
Cala Mijas was an international music festival on the beach at La Cala de Mijas, run by Last Tour (the team behind Bilbao BBK Live). In 2022 and 2023 the seafront site filled with major names, from The Strokes to Arcade Fire, across several stages, and it quickly became one of the best-known festivals on the Costa del Sol.
What made it special was the setting: not a city site or an airfield, but dancing almost with your feet in the sand as the sun dropped behind the horizon. That atmosphere made it a favourite, even though it lasted only two editions.
On 26 April 2024, Last Tour unilaterally announced it was ending its partnership with the council. The promoter blamed the Mijas town council for unpaid sponsorship from the 2023 edition (reported in the press at around 1.2 million euros) and inadequate facilities at the site. The council in turn put the blame back on Last Tour. The festival was cancelled and no replacement edition was held.
Rather than return to La Cala, Last Tour moved the event to Madrid, where it has continued since 2024 as Kalorama. No new edition on the Mijas beachfront has been announced.
Good news: even without the festival, La Cala de Mijas is very much alive in summer. The biggest celebration is the Feria de La Cala de Mijas, running 22 to 27 July in 2026, with casetas, sevillanas, a funfair and music late into the night. And on the night of 23 June the beaches light up for the Noche de San Juan. For the full picture, see our Mijas events calendar.
The rest of the summer brings live music in the chiringuitos and bars along the promenade. Our guides to restaurants and tapas and nightlife in La Cala point the way.
Whether you come for the feria or a quiet beach week, the nicest option is to stay within walking distance of the village and the sand. La Cala and neighbouring Riviera del Sol are ideal for that. You will find more options in our guide to where to stay in Mijas.
And if a big beach festival ever comes to La Cala again, you will be front row from here: straight down the promenade and onto the site.
No. There is no 2026 edition, and there has been no festival since the 2024 cancellation. It ran for two editions, in 2022 and 2023. The promoter moved the event to Madrid, where it continues as Kalorama.
The 2024 edition was cancelled after a dispute between promoter Last Tour and the Mijas town council over unpaid 2023 sponsorship and facilities at the site. No replacement edition was held.
The last edition was in 2023. The festival took place on the beach at La Cala de Mijas in 2022 and 2023, two editions in total.
Not to the beach at La Cala, as far as is known. The promoter Last Tour moved the event to Madrid, where it continues since 2024 as Kalorama. A return to Mijas has not been announced.
Plenty. The Feria de La Cala de Mijas (22 to 27 July in 2026) and the Noche de San Juan (23 June) are the biggest summer celebrations, alongside live music in the chiringuitos and bars along the promenade.
